Unveiling the truth behind IntelliZoom
If you’re looking en línea for a side job, chances are you’ll come across several usuario testing panels. These panels, or platforms, pay members to explore websites, programa, and aplicaciones while sharing their opinion vía vídeo.
Sounds like a great way to earn some plus cash, especially if you’re being weighed down by monthly bills and drowning in debt.
What is IntelliZoom?
IntelliZoom is a market research platform that pays members to test the usability of programa, aplicaciones, and websites. They are the testing arm for parent company UserZoom, which announced the IntelliZoom panel in May 2016.
Formerly known as YouEye, which was acquired by UserZoom (also in 2016), IntelliZoom’s purpose was to provide an active group of panelists who would help UserZoom customers find ways to improve their digital products.
However, based on IntelliZoom reviews and complaints, which I’ll discuss later, I’m not sure how effective the partnership has been. At least that was my first impression.
While some members call IntelliZoom a scam and question its legitimacy, UserZoom, on the other hand, generally receives good reviews.
There seemed to be a disconnect here that had me, along with others apparently, also wondering if IntelliZoom was legit.
Is IntelliZoom legit?
IntelliZoom’s parent company has worked with big brands like Amazon, eBay, and T-Mobile, helping them improve their UX and CX (usuario experience and customer experience) programa.
They have also been around since 2007, and both Co-CEOs, Alfonso de la Nuez, and Dan Fishback are highly respected in the industry.
Therefore, there should be no doubt that IntelliZoom is legit.
Unfortunately, IntelliZoom users and people looking for information en línea about IntellZoom aren’t so sure. And there is a reason for that…
Usuario testing panels like IntelliZoom, including the afín sites UserTesting, Userlytics, and UserFeel, are famous for low payout rates and disqualification tests, surveys, etcétera.
You may have experienced this yourself. You receive a survey that you’re apparently qualified for, spend ten or fifteen minutes answering questions, and then hit the “submit button.” However, instead of being rewarded for his time, he is told that he doesn’t qualify at all.
And because you don’t qualify, you don’t get paid. In some cases, your account may also be permanently suspended or closed.
Being disqualified and suspended
There are two sides to this story…
As a usuario, do youwhy wouldn’t you think it’s a scam? You answered their questions and they say you’re disqualified. You did nothing wrong, and now they refuse to pay you.
IntelliZoom, on the other hand (or any test/survey provider for that matter), has a different problem; They have hundreds (possibly thousands) from users who are trying to scam them. Users who do not pay attention to the questions or do not care how they answer them.
These are users who are scamming the system, who just want to finish the survey as quickly as possible and move on to the next one. In some cases, they may be using bots.
Therefore, the information they provide is useless to IntelliZoom customers.
Now, there are real scams that won’t pay you, like Buxify or WiredBucks for example.
And then you have IntelliZoom and other legitimate sites that run tests and surveys that try to identify rogue users and disqualify them. Unfortunately, these tests and surveys are not perfect. Sometimes they are dead wrong.
And the honest pollster is punished for it.
Some market research platforms like Branded Surveys, for example, try to soften the blow by offering points (which cánido be redeemed for rewards) even if the algorithm disqualifies you. And first they use “selection” surveys to make sure you fit their demographic and are willing to answer questions carefully.
But even that is met with skepticism (screenshot below).
To be clear, I’m not advocating usuario testing and market research companies like IntelliZoom. Some are undoubtedly honest, and others are probably taking advantage of their members. Without knowing for sure, however, it’s not fair to accuse any of them of being a scam (unless, of course, you’ve already been identified as a known scam).
Low pay rates
Usuario testing panels, en línea surveys, and rewards sites generally don’t pay well. It’s not because they’re cheap, although some are. In most cases, it’s just supply and demand.
On the one hand, there are companies that use these panels to do market research, and these companies want the best price. So you have hundreds of market research companies competing and undercutting each other’s prices.
On the other hand, you have millions of people just like you and me willing to try these products and complete surveys. But I don’t have any competitive advantage over anyone else because product testing and surveys are, for the most part, unskilled tarea. So there is no reason for me (or anyone) to get paid more than someone else.
If you or I don’t want to do it because the pay rates are too low, millions of equally qualified (or unqualified depending on how you look at it) will. Therefore, the platforms cánido dictate the price.
However, there are circumstances where product tests and surveys pay a lot of money.
For example, a pharmaceutical company might survey dentists about their patients’ reactions to a new medication.
Or a company that produces logistics programa could pay logistics managers good money to try it out.
But highly specialized tests and surveys like that don’t apply to most people.
The unfortunate reality is that the payout offered by legitimate (but generic) panels and surveys will, in most cases, be relatively low.
That doesn’t orinan you shouldn’t do them. On the contrary, millions of people enjoy doing them, and earn plus spending money at the same time.
However, not all market research sites are right for everyone’s situation. If making money in your spare time this way is what you want, it’s a good iniciativa to sign up for some of the best. When one isn’t offering tests or surveys, the others might, and vice versa.
Survey sites like Survey Junkie and Inbox Dollars are also good options.
en línea presence
For the most part, the reasons mentioned above explain the differences between the relatively poor reviews of IntelliZoom vs. the good reviews of UserZoom.
No doubt there are specific complaints and issues that we could speculate about. But without knowing both sides and all the details, it would just be speculation.
However, we perro look for more evidence that they are legitimate.
For example, in addition to IntelliZoom being owned by a legit UX and CX testing service provider, they also have a decent en línea presence. The kind you wouldn’t normally see if they were a scam.
Intellizoom (formerly known as YouEye) still has a Better Business Bureau profile with an A+ rating. Of course, that doesn’t tell us much about their operations today, but it is another indication that they are a legitimate business.
IntelliZoom and its parent company also have a modest presence on popular networking sites like Fb and Twitter. Although your Intellizoom pages are somewhat inactive, your UserZoom pages are up to date.
Unfortunately, the comments on the IntelliZoom pages are not so kind (which I’ll discuss in more detail), and I understand why some would call them a scam. So they’re not without their challenges, that’s for sure. But as a company, they are legit.

- You will use the UserZoom recorder to capture your experience while testing the UserZoom client website.
- Completed tasks will be reviewed for approval.
- If approved, you will be paid vía PayPal.
IntelliZoom Panel Log
Registering for IntelliZoom requires sharing certain information. You will be asked three profiling questions designed to match the needs of the IntelliZoom client (or, more specifically, from UserZoom).
You will also be asked for certain demographic information, such as:
- Birthdate
- Gender
- Household composition
- Occupation
- Rent
- Lifestyle Information
Of course, you cánido opt out of receiving these questions, but that may limit your chances of eligibility for product trials.
What is an IntelliZoom practice studio?
Research papers available on IntelliZoom are called studies. Once your registration is accepted, some practice studies will be sent to you as part of your training.
These are unpaid, but they are also short. You will experience what it is like to have your face and voice recorded while performing specific tasks.
After the training, you perro start working on official (paid) studios that will require you to analyze digital products such as the following:
- Advertisements
- animations
- Websites
- Applications
- Programs
Participants are selected based on demographics. Therefore, an correo electrónico invitation will be sent to you only if you meet your criteria for a especial task.
And you probably know, but it’s worth mentioning, that the job is not guaranteed. For example, some members say that available tasks come once a week or once a month.
Some say they have never received a study.
That’s why it’s a good iniciativa to join several of these types of sites.
How much does IntelliZoom pay?
IntelliZoom payment currently ranges from $2 to $10 per study. Depending on when you are reading this, the rates may have changed.
As a usuario tester, your pay will depend on the complexity of the task and the demographic availability.
Tasks that involve vídeo and audio recording pay on the higher side close to $10. Estándar surveys, on the other hand, pay closer to $2.
These take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete.
IntelliZoom payments are sent vía PayPal and there are no minimum thresholds to withdraw your earnings.
It should take 3-5 days for IntelliZoom to approve your work. Then, if they are accepted, they will release your payment within 21 business days.
However, work that is not approved does not get paid, and as mentioned above, this is a common complaint and why some say it is a scam.
I cannot disagree with this frustration.
IntelliZoom Reviews and Complaints
There seems to be a pattern regarding the IntelliZoom reviews and complaints. They are the following:
- Problems about not receiving payments
- Work is not always available
- Hard to grade for surveys and assignments
Here are some complaints on Fb (shown below):
As I mentioned earlier, it’s not uncommon to be disqualified from tests and surveys. And because demographic profiles are often task-specific, there may be very few opportunities for some members.
The most disturbing complaint about IntelliZoom, however, is that it doesn’t get paid. And maybe (I’m just speculating here) it’s because IntelliZoom doesn’t do a good job of informing its members that their work is accepted or rejected.
And currently, they have also done a poor job of responding to payment complaints left on their Fb page.
What I like about IntelliZoom
- The IntelliZoom panel itself is legit and some people make money on its platform.
- Usuario testing jobs are exciting. In my opinion, “thinking out loud” while testing websites etcétera. is nice work-wise.
What I do not like
- Currently, they don’t seem to inform members if a submission is approved or rejected.
- It does not provide a job that replaces income.
- Rare opportunities.
- Usuario complaints about not receiving payments.
Where do you go from here?
You want to make money en línea, and unfortunately, based on the complaints of not getting paid, I perro’t say for sure that IntelliZoom is a great way to do it.
I have nothing against IntelliZoom, and I’m not discouraging you from joining as well. Clearly some people are making money off of them.
However, as I have discussed in detail, this story has two sides. Users feel ripped off by IntelliZoom (for understandable reasons), but IntelliZoom may also be getting ripped off by users.
You have many other options to review programa and usability, read our guide on this.
