Telegram Premium: Features, Price and

Messaging services and paid subscriptions don’t usually work together, but Telegram does have one saving grace.

Is it worth paying Telegram premium? We tell you in this article.

“Telegram is free forever.

No ads.

No subscription fees.” That is the guarantee that Telegram had always given when you opened its mobile application for the first time.

But the messaging service has officially backed down from this stance with the debut of its paid tier.

For a monthly fee, Telegram Premium unlock various features, offering higher usage limits and exclusive stickers, among others.

But, Are these additional advantages worth it – or are they tempting enough – for you to upgrade to Telegram Premium?

Although good, Telegram is still free and will surely remain so forever, only now it has its premium version with some advantages that we will mention below.

all that is paid

Sigh with relief that Telegram founder Pavel Durov said in his announcement articulo that everything currently available for free will remain so in the future.

That means your personal and group chats will stay as they are, without changing the way you currently use the service.

Furthermore, he stated that free users will not be excluded in the future, as not all new features will be reserved for paying subscribers.

While Durov’s articulo only vaguely mentioned what the Premium plan will include, a more comprehensive Telegram artículo lists everything you’ll have access to with Premium.

Telegram Premium doubled the limits.

One significant change is the removal of many of Telegram’s limits, doubling most of them.

The paid subscription gives you 20 folders, 1000 channels, 10 favorite stickers and four connected accounts.

You’ll also be able to send archivos up to 4 GB with faster downloads, instead of the current 2 GB limit.

Subscribers also get the ability to transcribe voice memos, remove ads, have exclusive stickers and reactions, a Premium badge, advanced chat management tools, and much more.

How much does Telegram Premium cost?

Back in the day, when WhatsApp also required a subscription after the first free year, it cost you $0.99 for a whole year.

Telegram’s Premium offer is way ahead of WhatsApp’s previous approach and therefore requires a higher fee.

Although the Telegram announcement does not mention the exact monthly price, existing Premium users see a price of $4.99 per month on iOS and $3.99 on Android (with various variations depending on the country).

This disparity could be a result of Telegram still testing the best price ahead of a broader rollout or a way to pass the “Apple tax” on subscribers.

The subscription fee that Telegram asks isn’t that high at either price point, but it’s not cheap either.

Telegram has an extensive list of features that justifies its asking price, but it will still be hard to convince people to pay for a service that has always been free.

Telegram Premium: Features

The first advantage of Telegram Premium is the increase in archivo upload size.

From now on, Telegram Premium subscribers will be able to upload archivos up to 4 GB.

Non-Premium users will continue to have 2GB upload size, a feature that recently came to WhatsApp as well.

If you are someone who often shares huge archivos with friends and colleagues, you might find this feature attractive.

✅ Faster download speed

Next, Telegram says that it is increasing overall download speeds for subscribers.

In especial, Premium users will not have any speed limits when downloading media and documents.

Habitual users will have a maximum speed limit for Telegram downloads.

It goes without saying that you will need a fast internet connection to use the speed gains if you are a Premium subscriber.

✅ Speech to text conversion

Speech to text is my favorite Telegram Premium feature.

As the name suggests, the feature generates transcripts of the voice messages you send and receive.

This should be a lifesaver in situations where you don’t have your headphones nearby to listen to voicemails from your friends.

Although transcription accuracy will vary based on multiple factors, including accent, it seems like a good option for users.

We will test how it works and the accuracy of the transcription once the subscription goes live.

✅ No ads

In November of last year, Telegram announced its plans to introduce sponsored messages.

At the time, the company also promised to launch a cheap subscription to disable ads.

Well, that is finally becoming a reality.

Telegram Premium subscribers will not see any ads on public channels.

✅ Premium Stickers

Another novelty in Telegram Premium are the exclusive stickers.

Compared to the stickers that are available now, these stickers will have additional effects.

In addition, Telegram promises to update the stickers monthly.

✅ Advanced chat management

Users who are on multiple channels will benefit from the new advanced chat management features.

Telegram Premium users will have the option to equipo a default folder for chats, coche-archive chats, and even hide new messages from users who are not on their contact list.

✅ Profile badge

Taking a page from the Signal playbook, Telegram is adding profile badges for subscribers.

Premium subscribers will get a badge with a star icon next to their name in the chat window, and it will be aparente to all users.

✅ Animated profile pictures

The option to equipo animated profile photos, which is currently available for free to everyone, is going to be paid.

In case you don’t know, Telegram allows you to equipo vídeo avatars to help you better express yourself on the platform.

✅ Premium aplicación icon

Another cosmetic change that is introduced with the Telegram Premium subscription is the option to equipo new aplicación icons.

You will have at least three new icons, and more options are supposed to come in the near future.

This should come in handy for users looking to add a personal touch to their phone without relying on icon paquetes for customization.

✅ Unique reactions

Telegram introduced message reactions last December.

At the moment, there are 16 message reactions to choose from.

In addition to those reactions, Telegram will introduce exclusive animated reactions to messages for Premium subscribers.

This is an easy way to stand out from the crowd, if you’re into that.

Since then, WhatsApp has also jumped on the bandwagon and introduced reactions to messages for all users.

✅ Higher limits

In addition to these features, Premium subscribers will enjoy double the limits of free users.

Subscribers will be able to join up to 1000 channels, pin 10 chats, reserve 10 public nombre de usuario backlinks, save up to 400 GIFs and 200 stickers, and use 140 characters in the bio backlink.

In addition, subscribers will also be able to use longer subtitles of up to 4096 characters, access 20 folders, group up to 10 chats per folder, and add 4 accounts connected with different phone numbers.

For whom it is?

For most users, it’s unusual to pay a monthly fee for their messaging aplicaciones when the most habitual ones, like iMessage and WhatsApp, are available for free.

But in reality, Telegram Premium is not intended for the “most” of users.

Suppose you consider yourself an advanced usuario of Telegram or that you constantly run into the various limits of the messaging application.

In that case, Telegram Premium is the way to go.

Companies and administrators of large channels and groups will be the ones who most benefit from paid features, from being able to better organize your chats to sharing large archivos.

These tools could be immensely helpful if you need them, and you probably already know if you do.

Everyone else who doesn’t mind the current caps on Telegram chats – which pretty much covers the majority of regular users – perro easily get by with the free version.

Telegram sweetens the deal for free accounts by allowing them to interact with various Premium elementos that paid users have shared.

For example, even non-Premium account holders cánido download archivos larger than 2 GB and react to exclusive Premium stickers.

Thanks to a monthly cycle, you always have the option to temporarily subscribe to the service for one-off use, for example, when you have to send a large archivo to a large group.

Translation:Since the day Telegram launched almost 9 years ago, we’ve given our users more features and resources than any other messaging aplicación.

A free aplicación as powerful as Telegram was revolutionary in 2013 and remains unheard of in 2022.

To this day, our chat, media, and archivo upload limits are unrivaled.

And yet many have asked us to push the current limits even higher, so we’ve looked for ways to allow you to go beyond what is already crazy.

The problem is that if we were to remove all limits for everyone, our server and traffic costs would become unmanageable, so the party would unfortunately end for everyone.

After some thought, we realized that the only way to allow our most demanding entusiastas to get more while keeping our existing features for free is to make those high limits a paid option.

That’s why this month we’re introducing Telegram Premium, a subscription plan that allows anyone to purchase additional features, speed, and resources.

It will also allow users to support Telegram and join the club that gets new features first.

Not to worry though: all existing features are still free, and there are plenty of new free features on the way.

Furthermore, even users who do not subscribe to Telegram Premium will be able to enjoy some of its advantages: for example, they will be able to view plus-large documents, media and stickers sent by Premium users, or tap to add Premium reactions already pinned to a message to react.

in the same way.

Although our experiments with privacy-focused ads on public one-to-many channels have been more successful than we expected, I think Telegram should be funded primarily by its users, not advertisers.

In this way, our users will continue to be our top priority.

Perks like being ad-free and having access to exclusive stickers may tempt you to take the plunge.

However, ads on Telegram are already privacy conscious and sparse, and no one needs stickers.

Instead of these, you may be better off spending your money elsewhere.

But the ability to transcribe audio messages could benefit many people who are hard of hearing or who spend much of their time in noisy environments.

It’s worth spending on the paid tier just for this feature if it cánido make your life easier.

There will be people who don’t necessarily need any of the Premium perks, but want to support Telegram’s independence or lavishly keep the service free for most other users.

Even if you don’t have any such lofty goals and are tempted to join this exclusive club or flaunt that Premium badge, go ahead and treat yourself to Telegram Premium.

A subscription model is the way to go

It’s no surprise that Telegram is going ahead with a payment plan.

In 2020, when people started abandoning WhatsApp en masse over its controversial privacy policy update, Telegram became the biggest winner, amassing 500M active users.

To support this amazing growth, Durov suggested a subscription model to meet the growing financial needs of the company.

The only thing we didn’t know was the deadline.

Privacy experts routinely highlight Telegram’s lack of end-to-end encryption in chat mode by default.

However, the messaging service is highly regarded for its founders’ firm position on usuario privacy and the company’s independence from big tech.

If Fb’s controversial acquisition of WhatsApp is any example, big advertising companies are not shy about leveraging usuario data to increase their profits.

As in the early days of WhatsApp, a subscription model makes sense for Telegram to maintain its autonomy and pay its bills.

Telegram’s approach doesn’t force most users to pay another monthly fee, instead offering many features to the select few who want them.

It’s a win-win situation.
