4 Alternatives to the Car Rental Program

If you were an Uber controlador between 2015 and 2017, you may have benefited from a partnership between Uber and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Through this program, drivers were able to rent vehicles to drive for Uber at a weekly rate.

There was no need to worry about car payments, vehicle maintenance, or car insurance.

Additionally, the program gave people a way to drive for Uber if their vehicles didn’t meet the requirements or if they simply preferred not to use personal vehicles to share rides.

In 2017, however, Uber ended the Enterprise program.

This was unfortunate for drivers using the program to hit the road.

While the espectáculo hasn’t been around for over a year, you’ll still hear whispers on en línea forums.

To equipo the record straight, we have created this guide. In it, you’ll find our top five picks for Uber car rentals. Each is a quality alternative to the Enterprise Rent-A-Car program of yesteryear.

Does Uber Car Rental make financial sense for you?

Before considering any of the programs below, you should consider whether renting a car to drive for Uber makes sense for your financial situation.

In many cases, it might be cheaper to buy a car in the long run.

We think renting a car to drive for Uber makes the most sense in the following situations:

  • You want to test the service without using your personal vehicle
  • Your car does not meet the requirements for Uber vehicles
  • Your regular vehicle is receiving maintenance
  • You are not eligible to buy a car at a good price (for example, due to poor credit)

Beyond these considerations, you’ll need to do the math to determine whether driving for Uber will cover the rental costs of the vehicle and the expenses of the Uber controlador while leaving room for profit.

Assuming you think renting a car for Uber makes sense for your situation, let’s take a look at five options you have for doing so.

Uber currently has a partnership with Hertz that allows drivers to rent cars at a weekly rate for the purpose of driving for Uber. The program is available to drivers in the following cities:

  • Atlanta
  • Boston
  • Chicago
  • Denver
  • Inland Empire (Calif.)
  • The Angels
  • Miami
  • New Orleans
  • Orange County
  • Saint Anthony
  • San Francisco Bay Area

The cost structure is as follows:

  • $214 weekly base rate
  • $2,000 refundable deposit

The rental cost also includes unlimited miles, maintenance, insurance, and the option to renew the rental week by week for up to 28 days.

Because of the way the program is equipo up, it’s best for drivers who want to try driving for Uber without having to use their personal vehicle or for current Uber drivers who need a vehicle to use while theirs is being repaired. It is not a posible option for long-term use due to the fact that you cánido only renew for up to 28 days. For more information about the program, visit the official website of the Uber-Hertz association or Hertz itself.

You cánido also check out the Hertz Rent2Buy program if you are interested in purchasing a company vehicle.

2. Get around

If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, you cánido use Getaround to drive for Uber. In fact, thanks to a partnership between the two companies, your first day of Getaround use is free (up to 14 consecutive hours). This program is only available to new Uber drivers who sign up through the Uber-Getaround association page.

You will pay the following costs to use Getaround:

  • $5 per hour for rentals (paid in advance when you book)
  • Reservation fee of 3% of total reservation cost (with a minimum reservation fee of $1)
  • If you’re under 25 (but old enough to drive for Uber), you’ll pay the following fees to use Getaround:
    • 21 years: 25% of the price of the trip
    • 22 years: 15% of the price of the trip
    • 23 years: 10% of the price of the trip
    • 24 years: 5% of the price of the trip

As you cánido see from the fee structure, the best emplees for Getaround would be to test drive for Uber or find a car to drive when your primary vehicle is at the store. The costs make it prohibitive as a long-term solution.

We should also mention that even if you don’t intend to use your vehicles to drive for Uber, Getaround is still worth considering as an hourly car sharing tool. You cánido learn more about this here.

So far, we’ve been talking about companies that have partnerships with Uber. With HyreCar, we’re moving into the territory of third-party companies that rent cars for the purpose of driving carpools, but are not doing so as part of any Uber business partnership.

HyreCar is a car sharing company that allows individuals to rent their vehicles to Uber and Lyft drivers. The company is afín to Turo, except that it focuses on renting to rideshare drivers rather than renting cars to the general public.

HyreCar is available in a wide variety of locations, operating in 35 US states. These states include all of the most populous areas in the United States, so your city is most likely included. You cánido check the complete list of states in which HyreCar operates here.

As for the cost, it perro be rented by the day, week or month. The cost varies depending on the price the vehicle owner wants to equipo, although he will get a discount for choosing a longer rental period. You cánido get more information about prices here.

Also, please note that HyreCar will charge you a $200 deposit if you choose to pay with a debit card. You cánido avoid this cost by using a credit card for payment, in which case Hyrecar will charge the credit card on archivo for any issues that arise.

4.Maven Gig

Our last option for Uber car rental is Maven Gig. Maven Gig allows you to rent cars to use for ride sharing, food delivery, or courier services. The service is currently available in the following markets:

  • Austin
  • Baltimore
  • Boston
  • Detroit
  • Phoenix
  • The Angels
  • Phoenix
  • San Diego
  • San Francisco
  • Washington, D.C.

The company places special emphasis on its fuel-efficient rental vehicles. They even offer electric vehicles like the Chevy Bolt.

The cost varies depending on the vehicle you choose, but compact cars, sedans and crossovers start at $199 per week. Please note, however, that the rental agreement is for 28 days at a time. Maven Gig will bill you weekly, but you will be required to pay the weekly rate for four weeks. However, you have the option to cancel within the first 7 days without penalty.

So,what is included in the rental price? For this price you get unlimited miles, maintenance, insurance (minus the deductible) and roadside assistance. However, given the longer-term commitment, you’ll need to make sure you perro earn enough driving for Uber, other gig-economy services, or both to cover the cost and still make a profit.
