Not only is it rapidly rising in price and taking more of our budgets every week, but oil is also the source of one of the most difficult stains to remove from clothing, fabrics, concrete, and more.
But it does not have to be like that.

Cornstarch and Dish Soap – Tissue

Lastly, wash according to care label instructions.

Hairspray doesn’t do me any good on my head, but for years I’ve used it as a cheap fixative for charcoal drawings.
However, it is also a good stain removal tool.
Aerosol the oil or grease stain with hairspray; it should remove much of it instantly.
Then wash and air dry.
3.
Cheez Whiz – Fabric
Really? Yes, really.
I saw this one on “The View,” and the smudge guru swears by it.
You don’t even need to let it rest.
Just apply a little of the sticky Cheez Whiz (or a generic version) to the oil or grease stain and spread it on.
Then put the garment in the washing machine and it should remove the grease.
4.
Shampoo – Tissue
It is logical.
The shampoo is designed to remove natural oils and grease from the hair.
So why not clothes? Just grab some of your regular shampoo (or go out and buy some for oily hair if you don’t have hair like me) and rub it into the stain as a pre-treatment.
Then wash as directed.
It should work like a charm.
5.
WD-40 – Fabric and concrete
Among the thousands of emplees for WD-40, stain removal is one very effective use of this versatile product.
And most of us have it in the garaje, a place where oil is most likely to get on our clothes.
Just aerosol the stain with WD-40 and let it soak in for about 30 minutes.
Then scrub with a little dish soap and wash as directed.

Cornstarch and Dry Cleaning Solvent – Fabric
Once again, lay the item on a flat surface and liberally sprinkle cornstarch over the stain.
Let it absorb for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
Next, place some kitchen towels on a counter and place the item, stain side down, on the towels.
Proceed to blot or dab the back of the stain with a rag soaked in dry cleaning solvent.
Change paper towels frequently, as they absorb oil.

Waterless Mechanical Soap – Tissue
There are several brands available, including Kutol, Gojo, and good old Lava.
Rub the stain with the dry soap for several minutes, allowing it to soak into the entire stain.
The degreasing properties of the soap will help break up the oil stain.
Leave it for 30 minutes and repeat the operation.
Finally, wash as directed and air dry.

Coca-Cola – Fabric
I have already discussed the many emplees for Coca Cola, and stain removal is one of them.
Actually, the Coke contains some caramel food coloring, but not enough to stain.
At least, not if left for a few hours.
Just pour some Coca-Cola on the stain and let it soak in for an hour or two.
Then wash as directed and air dry.
The oil or grease stain should be completely destroyed, and there will be no trace of the Coca-Cola either.
9.
Coca-Cola – Concrete
The first step is to soak up as much oil as you cánido.
Use old shop towels, rags, worn-out T-shirts, or socks that you plan to throw away; anything goes.
Next, take a 2-liter bottle of Coca-Cola at room temperature and pour it over the stain.
If the stain is well covered and a lot of Coke remains, save the rest for another day.
Now let the Coke sit on the stain overnight, at least 8-10 hours.
The acidic properties will help remove the oil stain.
Sop up the cocaine with more towels, and use pressure in a blotting motion to help get the oil out of the concrete.
Then, using a stiff-bristled brush, apply some dish soap and hot water to the stain.
Now rinse with lukewarm water.
The stain should be history.
(By the way, it doesn’t have to be Coca-Cola.
I’m not true to the brand if I’m spilling it all over my floor, and the basic properties are the same).
10.
Lestoil – Fabric and Concrete
whatoil to fight oil? Of course.
Manufactured by Clorox, Lestoil is used to fight grease and oil stains on contact.
It is usually found in hardware stores and has a very strong odor, not unlike paraffin.
Just pour Lestoil on the stain and let it soak in for 20 minutes before washing it off.
Or, if you are washing a large load of grease, add a little to the wash.
It is also good for removing stains from fabrics on sofas, chairs, rugs, and concrete driveways.
As always, test in an inconspicuous spot before applying anywhere in plain sight.
11.
Aloe Vera Gel – Tissue
Let it ease your stain removal headaches.
Submerge the dirty clothes in water, then vigorously rub the aloe vera gel over the stain.
Wash as directed and air dry.
12.
Dishwasher Detergent – Tissue
You always see ads bragging about the grease-fighting power of dishwasher detergents.
From tabletas to regular liquids, they are formulated to cut through grease and leave crockery and cutlery free of stains and residue.
So, take a little dish soap to the stain, rubbing the liquid or powder away.
You perro also add a tablet to the laundry; this is very effective for greasy mechanic clothing.
13.
Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) – Concrete
You cánido find it at any quality hardware store.
It’s a chemical, so wear gloves and safety glasses (believe it or not, TSP is an approved food additive).
Mix 1 ounce of TSP with ½ cup of talcum powder and 1 cup of warm water.
This will make a nice paste, which you will need to apply to the oil stain with a trowel or other spreading tool.
Wait for the paste to harden and then remove it with a brush.
If the stain is still there, repeat with a diluted TSP mixture of 1 gallon of warm water with 1 cup of TSP.
Rub the stain, let it sit for 20 minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water.
14.
Pressure Washer – Concrete
If all else fails, a good solution is a high-pressure washer.
They perro be expensive, but there are alternatives.
There are nozzles you cánido buy for regular hoses that turn them into high pressure sprayers, but they will never be as effective as an air compression washer.
So consider renting one from a local hardware store.
